Summer is still in full swing. Though some parents are preparing to send their kids back to school, others of us are waiting for our favorite destinations to clear out of all of the summer vacationers. Days at the beach, park, and zoo! Sun-kissed and smiling cheeks looking up at you, possibly covered in ice cream. It really doesn’t get much better than this. Well… we can do without the sun-kissed so here’s my tip to quick healing!
Growing up my dad would have me pour vinegar over my skin while standing in the shower to cool my sunburns. His grandfather used this method for him. I know it works pretty good, but I was thinking there HAS to be a better way! Pouring the vinegar into the spray bottle makes it much more user friendly! Also the misting that occurs is really quite refreshing. Adding the lavender boosts the skin healing, and makes the smell much more agreeable.
I put in only a 1/2 cup of vinegar because using a spray bottle or mister helps cut down on waste and really stretches the vinegar. I added 15 drops of Lavender oil. I’m thinking you could use more or less according to your preference. Don’t forget to shake before each use!
Luckily I had the after sun spray and it works quickly! tweet
I brought it with us when we went on our vacation recently. I don’t want to say that I didn’t have faith in the sunblock recipe I recently tried, because I certainly did. What I had even more of was this overwhelming need to be prepared for anything! Blame it on my younger Girl Scout days of learning preparedness, or chalk it up to being a mom. I just figured someone was going to walk away from our vacation with a terrible sunburn.
It was me.
I was the one who was beet red on my shoulders.
I had spent so much time worrying about everyone else, I forgot about me! Story of our lives. Am I right, moms?
Luckily I had the after sun spray and it works quickly! I had hubby lightly mist my back and shoulders before bed. I slept great, and woke up refreshed enough to go out and do it again! Haha!
